Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Why it is worth knowing
- The three time dimensions (past, present, future) are covered entirely
- Jesus’s character, promises, and nature do not fluctuate with time or circumstance
- This is the basis of unshakeable trust: he will be the same tomorrow as he was at the cross
- In a world of constant change, his unchanging nature is an anchor
Where it sits: Hebrews 13:7-9
Remember your leaders, men who spoke to you the word of God, and considering the results of their conduct, imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Don’t be carried away by various and strange teachings, for it is good that the heart be established by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.

Background
Hebrews 13:8 stands as an anchor between two warnings: remember the faithful leaders who have gone before (verse 7) and do not be led astray by novel teachings (verse 9). The unchanging nature of Jesus provides the stability that human leaders and theological novelties cannot. The Greek word “same” (autos) is emphatic: the identical one, the very same person. Jesus who healed, taught, died, and rose is precisely the same person present with us today and who will be present in glory. Early Christians appealed to this verse to defend the unchanging identity of Christ.
